Site: Several original buildings that include general classrooms, administrative offices and more.
Program Challenge: To upgrade the campus’ three original buildings for modern instruction and other uses.
Solution: Rowe Architects directed the code upgrade and design of instructional classrooms, computer labs, administrative offices, a bookstore, and renovations to the existing Learning Resource Center. RAI also designed a computer “café” where students can socialize, study, and relax. The total facility was retrofitted to accommodate data connections in every office, classroom, and laboratory. The result is a state of the art learning environment at a cost of $48.56 per square foot.
In addition to being cost effective, RAI provided a phased construction timeline to accommodate the client’s funding availability. The project was built in four phases and each phase was further broken into sub phases to allow construction activities to occur with minimal disruption of learning. The construction calendar was developed to coincide with the college’s calendar to take advantage of academic breaks.
